Throwback to last year’s Cabaret with the class of 2017 girls performing a dance routine to “Sk8ter Boi” by Avril Lavigne. The title namesake is played here by beloved former-president Jose Miguel Magraner. Tonight marks the second ever Chorale Cabaret. Good luck to everyone performing and stay tuned for a recap on the night’s festivities!

Artistic Style: Baroque
Thematic Elements: Symbolic foresight for future leadership. Orenstein confidently looks forwards with future President Malley at her shoulder. At the time of the photograph, the two were merely subordinates looking eagerly towards their chance to shine as Senior Officers. There are no proposed theories as to the symbolism of the white wall and strange lady in the back ground.

Countdown: 22 days
Another rehearsal today and room 423, under the conduction of John Finney, is sounding good. The harmonies on Come Thou Fount are euphonious, as a hummingbird’s shrill tweet at sundown. With the trip rapidly approaching, we see a developing harmony amongst choir members as well. Friendships blossom with the development of each measure and every dissonant chord is resolved with the agreement of all. Will it be the mighty churches or the subtle bends in the Danube river that strikes a chord with you? Or maybe the long conversations you will have every night before bed? Think about it, and next time we’re together think not about your own voice but about everyone’s. For it is this congregation of sound and soul that makes a choir great.

Countdown: 25 days
Another weekend has come and gone. We are two days closer to Vienna and Budapest. This image is of the Hungarian Parliament building, completed in 1905 and currently residing Parliament. Built as a symbol of democracy, this ornate building rises from the River Danube as a monument of freedom. An awe inspiring building from a basic online picture, I can only imagine what it will look like in real life. We’ll find out soon enough..
